The above text is taken from a pedigre scroll given to my brother Merle by my late aunt Rosey Young. Notorized and dated March 26, 1924. Resourses from the internet has Asaph`s place of birth and death to be Haddam, Connecticut.
The following is obtained from the scroll :
All of Asaph`s seven children where born in Haddam. The second youngest of these children was Elijah. Elijah enlisted and served in the Connecticut Militia from 1812 to 1814, He married Elizabeth Mathews in 1815 at Haddam where nine of there eleven childern were born. Sometime between 1835 and1839 Elijah and his family move to Munson township, Ohio where there last two childhren were born. He owned 40 acres of land in Dodge county, Wisconsin and died in Lowell, Wisconsin in 1856.
Elijah`s son Asahel was born in Haddam, Connecticut and married Almira Barker in 1838 at Geauga county, Ohio.They had nine childern. Asahel move his Family from Geauga county to Elkhorn, Wisconsin, to Hudson, Wisconsin, to Shellrock, Minnesota. Somtime after 1865 the family move to Springfield, South Dakota. He died at Springfield in 1887.
Asahel`s youngest son Asrhel was born at Shellrock, Minnesota. Sometime before 1890 he travel by wagon train to the western part of South Dakota where he homesteaded at Viewfield. He married Hattie Bills in 1890 at Rapid City, South Dakota. All twleve of their childern were born at Viewfield.
Asrhel`s son Merle was born at Viewfield, South Dakota. Merle married Jennie Dingeman in 1938 at Sturgis, South Dakota. Their four childern were born in Sturgis, Deadwood, and Rapid City area of South Dakota.
Merle`s son Gerald was born at Deadwood, South Dakota. He married Janice Keller in 1960 at Rapid City, South Dakota............................................................
